A-518 and A-500 overdrive transmissions are currently available for Pre OBD-II vehicles in performance applications. These Street/Strip transmissions are built using premium internals, optimized internal clearances, specific oiling modifications, and specific valve body calibration to produce excellent shift characteristics at the strip, while not being overly harsh on the street. Shift characteristics can be custom tailored from mild to wild.

Full automatic functions are retained. However, full manual control is attained when manually shifting.

Overdrive functions are also retained, with additional modifications performed to increase strength in the OD unit.

Additional options such as manual valve bodies, billet input shafts, etc., are available to increase strength in both the 500 and the 518 based transmissions.


Also available are the 44RE and 46RE performance transmissions designed for use in OBD-II equipped vehicles. These transmissions are built to the same standards as the 500 and 518 units with similar power handling capabilities.

Premium internal components, optimized clearances, specific oiling modifications, and specific valve body modifications allow these Street/Strip transmissions to produce excellent shifts at wide open throttle, while being totally street able during daily driving.

As with the 500 and 518 transmissions, full automatic functions and full OD functions are retained.

In these applications the ECM has control of WOT shift points when the shifter is in the Drive position. However, when manually shifting above the preset ECM shift point, the transmission will not shift until the shift lever is moved into the next gear.
